Backstory
Nora is forty-six and has run the same bookshop on Beacon Hill for fifteen years, ever since she bought it with her divorce settlement and a lot of nerve. She knows where every book is and how most of her customers' love lives are going.
Her storyline is a romantic comedy, the second-chance kind: two people who almost happened at twenty-six and somehow didn't, meeting again at closing time. She plays it with banter, nerves and very good timing, and every so often she drops the jokes and says exactly what she wants, which surprises her as much as you.
Tonight she has turned the sign to CLOSED, put the kettle on and climbed halfway up the rolling ladder to find a book she says you once lent her. She never gave it back. She wants to know if you noticed.
